Triplet Pregnancy: 31 Weeks +4D
We are still in the hospital and realize now that we will be here until after the babies are born. Dr. Edersheim came to see us today and spent a half hour just explaining what the hell is going on. Susan has definitely developed preeclampsia. Its a danger to Susan because the high blood pressure and related toxemia can affect multiple organ systems. Its a danger to the babies because it can restrict blood flow to them, therefore causing damage to their brains. So we're kinda very scared. Its a day by day thing now. We desperately want to get past 32 weeks (which is on Wednesday) for them and for us... and if we can get even farther along that will be great. Its all gravy. The girls are doing well though, plenty of amniotic fluid, good heart rate and growth. But we're concerned about the trends. The farther we get, the worse the preeclampsia will become. The doctors seem to be not too concerned. But we're worrying parents - already.
I had to leave the hospital early yesterday. I was emotionally and physically exhausted from supporting Susan's transition to the hospital. Its been a rough ride. Her therapy for dealing is to complain about the situation, which is hard on the people around her (read "me"). So last nite I left, came home and walked the dogs, went downstairs and had dinner and coupla drinks (Mojito and Pinot Noir) and came home and fell asleep with the TV on (some thing I NEVER do) and slept clear on till morning.
I'm sure the more contact Susan has the better, so you can ping here
I have taken a lot of pics though so check some of these out. This is the view out Susan's room. She looks directly out over the East River. That's Roosevelt Island across the way
Here's Susi and those three beautiful girls...
And here's the frame for the new Triplet Stroller that came yesterday.
Finally, Susan got a bit of Pet Therapy yesterday, which was awesome... she was literally just asking if I could bring the dogs in for a visit
More pics here.

Thinking of you guys. We have had three complication-free arrivals. (the last two home births) Your situation reminds me how lucky we have been...

Wishing you all the best from Germany! We went through a normal birth up until the very last minute then had to have an emergency C section - our hearts and thoughts are with you all!
